Accountability and Integrity

The founding partners of Sjoberg Evashenk Consulting were at the forefront of government accountability throughout their tenures with the California State Auditor General. In 1984, as key members of the national effort, they helped draft and marshal the Federal Single Audit Act into being, and then led California into achieving one of the first single audits in the nation. Recognizing the outstanding commitment to these issues, the United States Comptroller General appointed founding partner, Kurt Sjoberg, to a four-year term on the prestigious committee to review and amend the Government Auditing Standards where he led the performance audit subcommittee. Additionally, co-founding partner, Marianne Evashenk, served on a number of government national audit and accounting committees to craft guidelines and protocols for business, industry, and government. We are also committed to improving government accountability, operations, and integrity. Audit and Industry Standards

Sjoberg Evashenk Consulting is committed to the objectives and purposes of the Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book) and its value to government auditing and evaluations. The founding partner served for four years on the Comptroller General’s Advisory Council on Government Auditing Standards, chairing the Performance Audit Sub-Committee. The founding partners also served for seven years on the National State Auditor’s Association Audit Standards and Peer Review Committees and were instrumental in developing its comprehensive peer review manual. Under their leadership, the California State Auditor’s Office achieved unqualified opinions on all five peer reviews conducted during their tenures.

Sjoberg Evashenk Consulting embraces and fully complies with the Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States. We are proud of our long history of delivering high-quality work products and can boast that we receive the highest marks and praise from our clients. Our staff are highly trained and competent, and we diligently ensure we meet all Yellow Book requirements relating to the conduct of our audit work, including provisions regarding continuing professional education for each staff member. We have undergone an External Quality Review (Peer Review) every three years since the firm’s formation and on each we have achieved unqualified opinions with no Management Letter comments.
