As the contracted Performance Auditor for Snohomish County, Sjoberg Evashenk Consulting recently completed a performance audit of the County’s risk management activities. We found that Snohomish County implemented many leading practices to identify and manage risks to the County; however, additional opportunities exist to enhance its risk management activities to more effectively manage risks, provide greater transparency, and improve the cash position of its Risk Insurance Fund. Further, a more integrated approach to risk management, enterprise risk management, would help the County to proactively identify emerging risks and take steps to mitigate and control identified risks.
